Reflection

Instruction Design is a field which is rapidly growing.  With the boom in distance learning, and globalization instructional design is now the doorway for learning communities.  Currently I am a primary grades educator.  What I have recognized, is that there are many similarities between being an instructional designer and educator.  One is keeping in communication and contact with the population you are instructing.  Also as an instructional designer you must keep the learner engaged, and continually challenge the learner in the instruction you are providing.  Setting high expectations for  learners is also imperative to the success of the learner.  The learner must recognize objectives and learning goals.  When communicating those goals and expectations, make sure words of encouragement are also utilized.  Learners must stay motivated.
Viewing the similarities between an educator and instructional designer, made me reflect on what I can do to keep the population I am instructing engages and a future instructional designer.  Communication is key component in any profession.  However, in the field of instructional design it is imperative you communicate effectively.  Utilizing resources such blogs, Skype, open forums, and instructional media will keep learners engaged.  Feedback must also be provided in a timely manner.
As I reflect about the material I reviewed, I am excited about were my future lies as an instructional designer. This is only the second class I have taken in this field, but anticipate learning about all the tools I will gain knowledge and access too.
